Etisalat announced its participation at the annual event Mobile World Congress 2013 to highlight its accomplishments and leadership in the UAE telecom sector and provide insight into their future projects in the country.

Global attendees will benefit from learning about Etisalat's experience and achievements in building the most advanced ICT infrastructure in the region as it was the first telecom major in the country to launch the 4G LTE network -- which now covers 80% of the inhabited area within UAE.

Mobile World Congress 2013 will be held from 25th - 28th February, 2013 at Barcelona, Spain. The exhibition and conference witnesses the attendance of major telecom companies, high profile global industry experts from the telecom and IT sectors and also offers a chance to view the latest technologies on display by the global operators and vendors in the ICT services and solutions sector.

Saleh Abdullah Al Abdooli, the CEO of Etisalat UAE, said: "The mobile ecosystem has witnessed rapid changes over the years with innovation taking center stage in creating new applications in the technology as well as telecom segment. Etisalat has proved itself locally as well globally with its investments in the network and providing innovative services and solutions to our customers.

"Mobile World Congress is a perfect platform for Etisalat to be able to engage with existing as well as potential global partners to offer technologies of international standards to our UAE customers. This is also an opportunity to gain first-hand information on futuristic solutions from technology majors as well as to interact with industry experts." Saleh Abdullah Al Abdooli added.

Etisalat already provides coverage to 80% of the UAE's populated areas with its 4G LTE network and 99.8% of UAE with more than 5000 2G/3G stations and successfully completed the fastest speed test for LTE network at a speed of 300 Mb/sec.

The telecom major has also invested Dhs19bn in installing its fiber optics network laying more than 2.8 million kilometers covering most of the country. This huge network places UAE in the second rank globally in terms of fiber optics coverage, with a slight margin behind South Korea, leading in global market. Abu Dhabi was the first capital in the world to be completely covered with fiber optics network.
