Etisalat participates in 15th National Career Exhibition 2013

Etisalat announced its participation at the 15th National Career Exhibition 2013 providing a platform for UAE Nationals to gain a better understanding on the company's various businesses and opportunities reiterating the fact that it is one of the best workplaces in the country.

The National Career Exhibition 2013 will be held from 20-22 February, 2013 at Expo Center Sharjah. The event is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council of UAE and current ruler of Sharjah.

The exhibition helps Emirati graduates choose the right careers that match their qualifications and aptitude, offering the country's financial and government establishments a prime opportunity to pick the best Emirati talents. Thousands of national graduates from educational institutions visit the show, to gain first-hand information about the country's premier institutions and the career opportunities they offer.

This makes it imperative for Etisalat to participate enhancing their presence in the Emirati jobs market as well as meet potential job seekers. As one of the prominent workplaces in the UAE, interested job applicants gain an insight about the work environment and values within the organization. Currently UAE nationals take up 90 per cent of the senior management and 50 per cent of the middle management positions at Etisalat. A large amount of Emiratis also have technical capabilities as the team comprises 967 technicians which is approximately one third of Etisalat's technical force.

Younis Abdulaziz Al Nimr, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) Etisalat, said: "Today Etisalat's strategy involves employing national talents as well as providing them a platform for development by improving their skills and investing in training. There are various programmes established for different level of qualifications targeting supervisors and newly appointed managers.

"Etisalat has always actively participated in career fairs and exhibitions as it has enabled Etisalat to offer opportunities to UAE nationals and address at least 50 per cent of employment requirements within the organization."

Training programmes are established by Etisalat for different levels of educational qualifications which mainly include the Middle Management programme that targets supervisors and newly appointed managers, Certified Institute of Personnel and Development programme and the International Financial Reporting Standards programme.

Etisalat has also continuously trained and qualified employees by partnering with Dubai School for Government, American University in Sharjah, Franklin Covey Institute, and Ken Blanchard Institute. The telecom major also provided its employees a chance to participate in a 'Leadership Skills Development Programme' (Riyada) conducted in partnership with a number of strategic Etisalat partners. The programme gave the participants an opportunity to train at telecom networking and technology firms such as Huawei and Ericsson. Additionally they also travelled to Silicon Valley to visit technology majors Google, Microsoft, Apple among other key players in the ICT industry.

Etisalat has also committed to employ and train UAE Nationals over the next 4 years as part of the recently announced Absher initiative. The company has one of the highest emiratization percentages among large corporations with UAE nationals forming 42 per cent of its total workforce.
