European Motors launches new Peugeot 208

Following the world premiere of Peugeot's all new supermini at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, European Motors unveiled the next-generation Peugeot 208 in Oman.

Following the tremendous success of the 207, across the Middle East, the 208 comes at a very strategic juncture for the French automobile manufacturer and presents an epitome of rigorous standards and tireless innovation.

"With the 208, we are very proud to bring to Oman the heir of a hugely successful car range, the Peugeot '200 Series'," said Gurdeep Singh Multani - Brand Manager, European Motors. "The new car has been completely reworked from the ground up. With an all new design, inside and out, and powerful new engine; the 208 features performance and comfort levels that are at the top of its class."

Jamal Sahl, Regional General Manager of Peugeot, added, "The 208 is much more than a generational leap; it is all set to reinvent the standards of the small car segment with a user-friendliness and intuitive design, highly optimized architecture, outstanding driveability and a boldly redesigned interior. We are confident that it will be very well loved by the youth and small families in Oman."

The Peugeot 208 has been completely re-thought in terms of instruments and controls and is designed to transform the everyday life of its driver and occupants. The 208 is now breaking previously established codes, and offers a new unforgettable driving experience. Design elements such as the smaller steering wheel and the instrument panel with its raised position create a more intimate relationship with the vehicle in which the car feels like an extension of its driver.

Peugeot also promises a greatly improved interior with its 208; focusing on simple style and high-quality materials. With its fully remodelled driving position and smaller steering wheel, the 208 has become easier to handle, more instinctive and feels more reassuring. The softness of the materials and the ambiance lighting also introduce the feeling of a relaxed pace of life in this modern and streamlined interior.

With the 208, Peugeot breaks new barriers in terms of eco-design. The brand used all its expertise to reduce fuel consumption and polluting emissions for every one of its vehicles. Weight, aerodynamics, tyres and technological expertise, everything has been put into practice to reduce the impact on the environment. In fact 25 per cent of the 208's mass of polymers comes from recycled materials or materials from natural sources. The rear bumper, for example, can be completely recycled.
The new five-door, 1.6l, 120hp Allure model comes with: 16" "Black Diamond" alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, a six-speaker sound system, a USB/deported Jack plug, Bluetooth and remote controls on the steering wheel all as standard. A variety of optional equipment is also on offer via order: the panoramic glass roof with manual curtain, speed limiter and cruise control, dynamic leather seats, LED lighting package with mood lighting, LED ceiling lights and halogen elliptical module headlights and an all new 7 inch touch screen exclusive for Peugeot 208.

Safety was of paramount importance when developing the 208 and the car more than convinces with its abundant safety features. By integrating numerous driving aid systems, in conjunction with its high passive safety, the overall level of safety and comfort have been significantly increased.

The Peugeot 208 Allure and Active models are now available and showcased in all Peugeot dealer showrooms in the Sultanate of Oman.
