Expat population in Oman rose 106.4% since 2010

Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has said the expatriate population in the country has increased by 106.4%, increasing the growth of the total population by 38% since the last census in 2010, Muscat Daily has reported. Oman's population has reached 3.83 million at the end of February 2013, of which 2.15 million Omanis account for 56%, while the 1.68 million expatriates make up the remaining 44%, said the NCSI. The private sector employs 1.35 million expatriates, of which 44% (597,924) are employed in the construction sector alone, the report said.
