  • PRESS RELEASE

Pink Caravans rider's helmets, visible across the UAE on horseback during their second Pink Caravan ride last April; will be even more detectable this February on their third ride, when one has been signed by Formula 1 race driver, Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton signed the helmet at the Marina Mall Dubai during a dedicated signing session, after having shown his prowess with a work out on stage, organized by Reebok.

The legendary racing driver is due to take to the YAS Marina circuit this weekend with the Abu Dhabi Gran Prix back in town.

Lewis Hamilton mentioned to the Pink Caravan ambassador, Zena Habi, that "He too has had some personal relationships with breast cancer when last April he had to race back to spend time with a family member who was tragically afflicted with the disease. Lewis's Twitter account also confirmed this unfortunate account. This is why Lewis mentioned that he was very happy to see the progress coming from the Pink Caravan campaign."

The Pink Caravan rider's helmet will be auctioned at a future date with the benefits going to the Pink Caravan campaign. The aim of the campaign is to purchase a 3D mobile mammography unit to help reach both men and women who have less access to clinics and hospitals.

HE Ameera Bin Karam, President of the Board Of Trustees and a Founding member of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity, said, "It is wonderful to have a motorsports legend sign a notable piece of our Pink Caravan merchandise as we hope this will encourage future sports figures to also endeavor to help our charitable cause. The signature itself will help to encourage more men to take an interest in the auction, as well as hopefully encouraging more volunteer riders for our next Pink Caravan ride."

The next Pink Caravan ride is scheduled for February 2013 and volunteers are applying by the dozen. Ameera also said, "We are so please to see just how many people have volunteered so far as, it being a pan-UAE trek, we have plenty of space to cover. The more people who volunteer, the greater the chance that the awareness of the importance of self-examination gets across."
