New ferrochrome smelter to come up in Oman's Freezone Sohar

Oman's Freezone Sohar is set to sign a land lease agreement with a joint venture firm for building a ferrochrome smelter, Times of Oman has reported. The facility will be the fourth ferrochrome project coming up in Sohar that will take the total envisaged capacity to approximately two million tonnes per annum. The proposed unit, which will have approximately 150,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) capacity, will have a capital expenditure of between $100m and $150m.
