Profile and Background
EAB was established in 1976 as a 51:49 joint venture between public sector Bank of Alexandria and American Express Holdings. It went public in 1996 through a 20% new share offering and BoA sold another 10%.
American Express, which manages the bank, now owns 41%, BoA 33% and the public 26%.The bank has 30 branches and staff of around 800. In 30 August 2006: Egyptian American Bank was de-listed from Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange as a result of its merger with Credit Agricole Egypt.
