The official currency of Kuwait (Kuwaiti Dinar) is on a managed float versus the US dollar. The KWD hasn't moved a lot the last 15 years, but there are changes in its value in dollar-terms.

Currency history:
Kuwait became a British protectorate on November 3, 1914. It gained its independence on June 19, 1961.
The Indian Rupee (INR) circulated in Kuwait until the Persian Gulf Rupee (XPGR) replaced it on April 28, 1959 at par. The Reserve Bank of India issued the Persian Gulf Rupee. Kuwait introduced the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) on April 1, 1961 at par with the British Pound Sterling. The Dinar is divisible into 1000 Fils. Banknotes were issued by the Kuwait Currency Board from 1960 to 1968 and by the Central Bank of Kuwait from 1968 until today.
