Dhofar Vegetable Oils & Derivatives Company was established by a group of seven Omani investors and one from the UAE in the autumn of 1996 following the flotation of 50 per cent of its equity on 15 September-14 October of that year.
The company operates a factory in Raysut manufacturing vegetable oils and derivatives and oil-related products. It also sorts, refines and distributes its products. The largest shareholders are Mohamed Rashid Abdullah al-Fanah, with 10.
4 per cent, and Salem Said Hamed al-Fanah, Suleiman Ahmed Said al-Houqani and Al-Baraka Investment Company, each with 8.3 per cent. The company reported sales of RO 3.3 million ($8.57 million) in 1999, its first year of operation.
A loss of RO 408,514 ($1.06 million) was recorded. The company was suspended from trading from the Muscat Securities Market in 2003.
