Profile and Background
Gulf International Chemicals Company was established in the summer of 1996, following the flotation of 272,000 shares in June-July of that year. It produces chemicals used in the construction of roads and buildings.
Its shares were listed in September 1996.It is the first company in the region to manufacture chemicals used to strengthen and prolong the life of unpaved roads. It is also the first to produce geotextile, a material used in the construction of roads and dams.
It is envisaged that production will cover local demand and leave a surplus to be exported to GCC markets. Other products to be manufactured include asphalt emulsion, which is already produced by a company in Saudi Arabia.
