Omani-European Food Industries Company (OEFIC) is an Omani-Italian joint venture established in 1996 by Oman & Emirates Investment Holding Company, with a 22.1 per cent stake, and Italy's Servizi Tecnici and Rossi Catili, each with 10 per cent stakes.

In its initial phase, OEFIC will produce baby food, with a capacity to manufacture 2,150 tonnes a year (t/y) of cereals and 2,700 t/y of biscuits. The project manager is Al-Baraka Economic Consultancy.

The company has signed an agreement with Italy's Star to market the products under the Mellin brand name. The company reported a loss of just over RO 500,000 ($1.3 million) in 1999. This was absorbed by reserves and led to a fall in shareholders' equity at the end of the year.

The company's shares are rarely traded.
