Oman Water Pumps Manufacturing Company is engaged in the manufacture and installation of water pumps. Sales and profits have grown consistently over the last five years of operation but were hit in 1997 by a combination of lower sales and higher financing charges.

Higher costs also hit profits in 1999.The stock was listed on the parallel market in May 1991 and was one of 50 stocks that made up the MSM general index until it was dropped at the end of 1997. The shares are difficult to obtain and are rarely traded.

About 48 per cent of the shares are owned by chairman Hamed Abdullah al-Riyami.
