Profile and Background
United Finance Company (UFC) has issued and paid-up capital of RO 5 million ($13 million) in the form of 5 million RO 1 ($2.60) shares. It raised 40 per cent of its equity in a public offering which closed heavily oversubscribed on 13 November 1997.
It was established by a group of 19 investors to provide financing for industrial, commercial, building and contracting companies and for vehicle purchases.UFC aims to capture a 7-8 per cent share of the vehicle financing market, which is estimated at about 3,000 vehicles with a total financing cost of some RO 22 million ($57 million).
The company also offers 12-month loans for home furnishings and improvements.UFC faces competition from Muscat Finance Company, Oman Orix Leasing Company, Al-Omaniya Financial Services Company and Oman Leasing Company.
