Al Maha Petroleum Products Company was established in 1993 as part of the Oman Refinery Company but then separated from the refinery in September 1999 to form a joint company with ABS Lubricants by December 1999.

A 60% stake of the company was offered to the public on 09-03-04 and was open to all nationalities. OMR 9 mn was offered but subscriptions exceed OMR 63 mn. 40% of the company is owned by Abu Dhabi's ABS Lubricants.
