Profile and Background
Qatar Flour Mills Company (QFMC) was established in 1969 as a shareholding and began production in 1972, becoming the second flour producer in the Gulf states. The company remains the only flour mill in Qatar.
QFMC had an initial capital of QR 5 million ($1.4 million), which has since been increased to QR 60 million ($14.5 million).In 1996, the company relocated to new premises in Doha from Mesaieed,QFMC says the technology installed at the new plant has enabled it to become the first company in the GCC to produce five kinds of flour: strong flour, excellent flour (extraction 72 %), subsidized flour ( extraction 77 %), brown flour (extraction 85 %), and the whole wheat flour.
