The Commercial Bank of Dubai plc was incorporated in Dubai in 1969 as a public shareholding company in accordance with UAE Commercial Companies Law of 1984 to carry out all types of commercial banking activities.
The paid up capital of the bank stood at AED 409,948,000 at end of 2000, divided into 40,994,800 shares of AED 10 each. Reserves for bonus shares were reported in the 2000 financial statements, and amounted to AED 40,994,800, representing 10% of the capital.
The financial statements are audited and certified by KPMG.By 2002, the bank's issued and paid-in capital base had risen to 45,094,280 shares of AED 10 each. Cash dividends amounting to 30% of paid-in capital (AED 135,283,000) were distributed in 2002, along with 10% in bonus shares (compared to no stock dividend for the 2001 financial year).
