Flame virus detected in UAE, says Kaspersky
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 05 - 2012 at 11:09
Kaspersky Labs has said the Flame virus has been discovered on 'a handful' of computers across the GCC region, prompting security concerns for energy firms based in the Gulf and industrial plants, The National has reported. The virus had been detected on 11 computers in Saudi Arabia, two in both the UAE and Qatar, and one in Bahrain, said Stefan Tanase, senior security researcher at Kaspersky. Meanwhile, Microsoft said that the Flame virus has managed to gain a foothold by tapping into rogue certificates for Microsoft's Terminal Server that appeared to be signed by the company and were therefore seen as legitimate. The software giant said several measures were taken, including the release of a Windows patch to fix the security hole in Terminal Server, a feature that allows for remote desktop connections.
