Ford Q3 earnings hurt by losses in Europe

Ford Motor Co has said its third-quarter profit fell 1% to $1.63bn as European losses swamped record North American profits, the Associated Press has reported. Ford's revenue dropped 3% to $32.1bn, as vehicle sales dropped in Europe and South America. The company lost $468m in Europe, where sales have fallen sharply because of the troubled economy. However, the US carmaker earned $45m in the Asia Pacific region, reversing a loss from a year ago. It's the first profit in that region since the second quarter of 2011.
