Ford recalls thousands of Edge cars over fire risk

  • Middle East: Monday, September 17 - 2012 at 12:24

Ford has recalled 5,499 Edge crossover vehicles from the 2012 model year to correct a potential problem with their fuel systems that could result in fires, the Wall Street Journal has reported. The carmaker said it manufactured the affected vehicles from September 2, 2010, through October 31, 2011. The Edge models included in the recall are equipped with 2.0-litre engines. In the vehicles being recalled, the housing of a part called the fuel line pulse damper may crack because of a manufacturing defect, which can result in fuel leaks when the fuel system is under pressure, and fuel leaks can increase the risk of a fire.
