Galfar awarded OR80.4m in contracts in India

Oman's Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co has been awarded two road construction contracts by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, Muscat Daily has reported. The first deal is for four-laning of the Kashipur-Sitarganj section of National Highway 74 in the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis with a grant of OR16m. "The project is expected to cost OR42.6m. The concession period is 21 years for the contract and construction period is 910 days," said Dr P Mohammed Ali, vice chairman and managing director of Galfar. The second contract envisages design, engineering, finance, construction, operation and maintenance for the two-lane Rajasthan border-Fatehpur-Salasar section of National Highway 65 in Rajasthan state, on DBFOT basis. "The expected project cost is OR37.85m and the concession period for the project is 30 years including a construction period of 910 days," said Dr Ali.
