GCC may sign FTA agreement with China 'this year'

The UAE ambassador to China, Omar Ahmad Adi Al Bitar has said a free trade agreement between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) may be concluded this year, China Daily has reported. "We are near to achieving the FTA between the GCC and China, with a few items including tariff issues to be resolved soon thanks to strong bilateral will," said Al Bitar. Sino-GCC trade totalled $133.8bn in 2011, accounting for 68.3% of trade between China and the Arab League, according to data from the Chinese commerce ministry.
