  • PRESS RELEASE

Medical experts from the GCC countries are invited to the three-day medical travel road show, organized by the German National Tourist Office (GNTO), the local affiliate of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) in Dubai, from the 30th September to the 2nd October. The workshop series will start in Kuwait City on 30th September and continue in Doha on 1st October. It will then terminate in Abu Dhabi, on 2nd October.

"Many factors are progressively consolidating the popularity of Germany as healthcare and medical treatment destination, especially among patients coming from the Arabian Gulf states," said Antje Roeding-Boudier, Director of the Marketing and Sales Office for the Gulf Countries at the GNTO.

"Arab guest patients choose Germany not only because it is a destination with excellent medical facilities, whose services are shaped on the requirements of international visitors but also because this excellence in the medical sector is associated with a high level of tourism appeal for accompanying families," she continued.

The upcoming road show is bringing to Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE a series of workshops held by institutional, medical and tourism representatives, coming from Germany. The staged activities include panel discussions, exchanges of experiences as well as one-to-one workshop sessions, aimed at providing useful information and extensive networking opportunities to the participants.

Health is a tourism megatrend with one of the global fastest growth; its increase in value sales is expected to reach 5.5% yearly in the period from 2010 to 2015. Therefore it also became a key focus in the sales and marketing activities of the German National Tourist Board. The road show is part of GNTO's promotional activities to educate and raise awareness among the local travel industry, media, as well as medical experts about the development of initiatives specifically tailored to meet the needs of the visitors arriving from GCC countries.
