GGICO hits limit up, Dubai bourse flirts with 4-year high

The DFM General Index closed 2.70% higher at 2,255.19 points Tuesday. Gulf General Investment Company, known as GGICO, posted the biggest jump, ending up 14.93% at Dhs0.439 after the firm returned to profits. Emaar finished 3.06% highe at Dhs5.72. Mashreqbank lost the most (off 2.44% ay Dhs40.00). Shuaa Capital slipped 0.75% to finish at Dhs0.66. Earlier in the day, the investment bank said it posted a net loss of Dhs5.9m in Q1 2013, down 71% quarter-on-quarter and off 31% year-on-year. Some Dhs682.4m shares were traded, valued at Dhs1.1bn, the highest value since June 2009.
