- Jordan: Thursday, September 13 - 2012 at 11:41
US-based Global Educational Excellence charter school is to expand into the Middle East, becoming the only Michigan-based charter system on foreign soil; Detroit News has reported. Mohamad Issa, co-founder of the school, will break ground October 1 on a private school, to cost more than $15m, in Amman, Jordan. The new school to be built in Jordan, the American Excellence School, is scheduled to open for the 2013-14 school year. "We're opening the school, based on the demand from the community to have a quality American school for the students in Amman," Issa said. The school will educate boys and girls in grades pre-K to eighth grade, whose parents want them to receive an American education at home before attending college in the US, added Issa.
