Gulf Eco 2013 receives participation and support from Orpic

Orpic confirmed its participation and support as Gold Sponsor at the Gulf Eco Expo 2013, organised by OITE Trade Fairs under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs.

Taking place from 20th -22nd January, 2013 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, the three day event will highlight environmental issues related to climate change, water technologies, power and renewable energy under the theme Clean Energy for Oman.

"Our vision is to be the global leader of the oil refining and petrochemical industry through the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, while at the same time contributing to increasing employment opportunities for the citizens of Oman. With an extensive safety management programme in place across our plants we aim to meet national environmental regulations with respect to the operation of our plants with our performance initiatives extending to products, liquid effluents, gaseous emissions and solid wastes. At Gulf Eco Expo 2013 we wish to share our safe practices, plans and techniques with attendees, as part of realising our vision," says Mr. Daeij Al Hosni, Communications Specialist, Orpic.

The efforts taken by Orpic to combat negative impacts on the environment have not gone unnoticed. In 2011, Orpic commenced with an Environmental Improvement Plan whereby 60% of the projects have been completed to date. The environmental improvement initiatives include Catalyst Recycling in the Cement Industry, Disposal of FOBS in an environmentally sound manner, Waste Water Treatment Improvement and Odour Release Control, SOx Emissions Reduction from Wet Gas Scrubber (WGS) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Study and Reduction Plan.

Created from the integration of three companies - Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC (ORPC), Aromatics Oman LLC (AOL) and Oman Polypropylene (OPP) - Orpic is one of Oman's largest companies and is one of the rapidly growing businesses in the Middle East's oil industry. Orpic is owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and by Oman Oil Company SAOC, the commercial company wholly owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman created to pursue investment opportunities in the energy sector both inside and outside Oman.

Held alongside the Gulf Eco Expo 2013, the Gulf Eco Conference 2013 will take place from 21st - 22nd January 2013 at the Golden Tulip Hotel from 8:00 am onwards.
