HAAD launches genetic disease screening drive

The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has organised a scientific programme on "genetic diseases" in collaboration with Al Ain College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Gulf News has reported. The programme came after a study monitored by the HAAD about most prevalent genetic diseases in the country like such as beta-thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia. The programme included workshops and lectures by a group of consultant haematologists, infectious disease and foetomaternal consultants from within and outside the country to health care professionals who are working in "Premarital Screening Programme and Counselling."
