His Highness Harib bin Thuwaini bin Shihab Al-Said, Secretary General Assistant for Conferences at the General Secretariat for the Cabinet, will preside over the formal inauguration today of Motor Show 2008 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb.
The exhibition, which will run until December 6, is participated in by leading car dealers in Oman and will showcase the latest models of globally known vehicle brands. Among those that will be featured in the exhibition are Audi, Chrysler, Citroën, Daihatsu, Dodge, Ford, Great Wall, Hino, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Peugeot, Seat, Skoda, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The wide range of brands on display makes the Motor Show a must-see event for all car owners, motoring enthusiasts, and potential car buyers.
'Motor Show 2008 will be an opportunity for everyone to check out the exciting features of the new car models that are now available in the local market,' said C.J. Paul, general manager of Omanexpo LLC, the leading organiser of trade and consumer shows in the sultanate.
Today's official opening ceremony, which is scheduled at 10:00 a.m., will be attended by ministry officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the senior management of all participating companies, and other distinguished guests. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the chief guest will tour the exhibition to view the vehicles on display, many of which will be formally launched for the first time in Oman at the opening of Motor Show 2008.
Among the new car models that will be unveiled include the Great Wall Peri, the Kia Soul and the new Kia Cerato, the Mazda 6 Ultra, the Skoda Octavia, the new Toyota Yaris, the Volkswagen Passat CC and the Volkswagen Scirocco. With all available spaces at the exhibition centre taken up for Motor Show 2008, the exhibition will showcase a wide range of new 4-wheel drives, sedans and hatchbacks, sports utility vehicles, pickup trucks, saloon vehicles, luxury vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
In addition to the latest car models, Motor Show 2008 will also prominently feature all-terrain vehicles as well as motorbikes. The four-day exhibition will likewise display a wide selection of auto parts & accessories as well as products and services for all car owners and would-be car buyers. Among those to be exhibited are automotive tyres, car loans and insurance products, auto paints and polishes, motor oils & lubricants, genuine Toyota parts, and many other products.
The exhibition timings for Motor Show 2008 will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and then from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. On Friday, December 5th, the exhibition will be open only from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. All visitors will have a chance to win valuable prizes in the raffle draw, and various activities have also been lined up to entertain visitors on all days of the event. These include a Harley Davidson race, driving simulations, live band music, BMX stunts, break dancing, RC car racing, and magic shows.
