  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, February 18 - 2013 at 04:25

The UAE government has decided to make health insurance mandatory for visitors to the country, Gulf News has reported. Everyone applying for a visit or tourist visa needs to have health insurance, regardless of the nationality, age or gender, said director general of the GDRFA, Maj. Gen Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in Dubai is in charge of tourists' health insurance, he said. "The tourist company must follow up any tourist they brought here in case that tourist falls ill and needs to be hospitalised," said Al Merri.
