H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum inaugurates Grandweld Shipyards new facility at Dubai Maritime city

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group, Inaugurated Grandweld Shipyards new facility in a special ceremony held at Grandweld Shipyards' new location at Dubai Maritime City.
Spreading over 55,000sqm, Grandweld new state of the art facility offers a modern shipbuilding infrastructure; featuring 13,500sqm covered and insulated shipbuilding yard with overhead cranes, 28,000 open yard, 4000sqm modern offices, CNC shop and piping shop, and 5000sqm storage area.
Completed in 2012, the expansion has increased the production capacity by 60% which is mainly dedicated for larger vessels. With its new location strategically situated in the heart of Dubai with easy access to the Gulf, Grandweld is considered the largest shipbuilder in the region.
"Grandweld's new facility has been designed with premium green building technologies and standards, and has achieved the 'LEED GOLD Rating' making it the first marine green building in the MENA region," explained Jamal Abki, General Manager of Grandweld Shipyards.
"We are delighted that Grandweld has chosen to be part of the exclusive community of premium companies within DMC and supporting the growth of the maritime industry. Their advocacy of green building technologies would definitely provide an impetus to promoting sustainable environment-friendly developments in the region," said Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.
The move to the new facility is a momentous milestone in the company's history, and by entering a new phase of growth, Grandweld Shipyards is committed to provide its clients a comprehensive range of proven offshore and marine products, and to maintain its exceptional services to its regional and international clients from its new facility.
