HMC to offer kidney patients portable dialysis machines

Qatar's Hamad Medical Corp (HMC) has said between 20 to 30 kidney patients undergoing dialysis at the HMC are likely to get portable devices to do the dialysis on their own at home or workplace, the Peninsula has reported. The move is part of a project set to be implemented in 2014, in collaboration with a leading British hospital, said Dr Hassan Al Malki, Senior Nephrology Consultant and head of the Kidney Unit at Hamad General Hospital. "Of the nearly 500 patients currently undergoing dialysis at HMC, 20 to 30 would benefit from the project once it is implemented," he said.
