Honeywell: Collaborative Performance Management for Oil & Gas

  • Middle East: Wednesday, November 21 - 2012 at 12:21

SAP and Honeywell have defined a vision for Collaborative Performance Management to leverage rich sources of information, provide tools to gain improved insights, and support action to drive value. Customers and industry analysts play a significant role in shaping this vision. Analysts paint a picture of the practices that best-in-class companies employ and describe the nirvana of Collaborative Performance Management, Enterprise Reliability, etc.

Drowning in Data, Starved for Information.

Historians and plant systems routinely collect information on every aspect of the plant and on how operating parameters and results change over time. Data storage has expanded to support the collection of information, and gigabytes of data are collected every day.

In addition, enterprise systems are collecting and creating related data about maintenance, training, incidents, cost, production and more. All the data you could possibly need is there.

The key question is:

> how do you sift through all of this data to gain new insights;
> improve the performance of the plant; and
> support continuous improvement, operating, and business goals?

Executive Summary

Collaborative Performance Management has been a goal for years. Many operating companies have made investments to achieve the vision but are faced with a lot of challenges to pull a sustainable solution together.

In this Honeywell white paper: Collaborative Performance Management for Oil & Gas, we seek to address:

• A new approach to achieving Collaborative Performance Management

• Ways to bridge the knowledge gap between information technology and plant systems

• Using a consistent framework to get started and build a sustainable solution

Note: although this paper discusses the oil and gas industry specifically, the challenges and approach apply equally to other continuous process industry sectors.
