  • PRESS RELEASE

HP announced that Nakheel, Dubai's leading real estate developer, has boosted communications for its 13 sites across the emirate with a virtualised HP Converged Infrastructure.

Nakheel is responsible for innovative real estate developments across Dubai's residential, commercial, retail and leisure sectors, including landmark projects such as Palm Jumeirah and The World. Nakheel continues to build the vision of Dubai by developing prime communities across the city such as Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Park and Jumeirah Heights. Since separating from Dubai World, the company has embarked on a transformation of its IT operations under the ownership of the Dubai government.

"To enable us to achieve our strategic objectives, we refreshed our IT environment with the latest HP technologies," says Mr Ahmed Al Ahmed, CIO, Nakheel. "Working closely with HP, we defined a future-proof architecture that links our properties in Dubai. By consolidating our IT resources with HP Converged Infrastructure, we have simplified management, centralised decision making and streamlined Nakheel's business operations."

HP Converged Infrastructure provides Nakheel with a single, standardised IT system that is simple to manage and maintains continuous service levels. Virtualising the server farm into HP CloudSystem and consolidating storage into next-generation HP storage area network (SAN) arrays have enabled Nakheel's IT team to deliver 24x7 data availability. A centrally managed core-to-edge HP Flex Campus wired and wireless network delivers secure, reliable communications across a wide geographical area and reduces the workload on Nakheel's IT team.

Flexible financing and asset lifecycle management services provided by HP Financial Services allow Nakheel to modernise its IT infrastructure while conserving capital and optimising cash flow.

"Nakheel needed a strategic partner with whom to develop its IT infrastructure," said Eyad Shihabi, Managing Director, HP Middle East. "HP's presence in the region, proven product capabilities and experience of implementation in large complex environments enable us to contribute to the rapid economic growth of Dubai across a wide range of strategic industry segments."

HP's premier Europe, Middle East and Africa client event, HP Discover, takes place Dec. 4-6 in Frankfurt, Germany.
