- PRESS RELEASE
The Generations For Peace Samsung Advanced Training was officially opened by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, Founder and Chairman of Generations For Peace.
In his welcome remarks, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein stated, "Our vision since 2007 has been to support the efforts and personal development of our Pioneers on their continuing journey with Generations For Peace. This remains our priority and is the ultimate vision for our cascading model: that our most experienced Pioneers lead on training others." Speaking at the recently opened state-of-the-art Generations For Peace Conference Centre, HRH Prince Feisal expressed the importance and value of each Pioneer and Delegate as a "source of inspiration and motivation in our common path toward cascading positive change in communities around the world."
The opening session was followed by a press conference in which HRH Prince Feisal spoke of the "shared determination" of the Pioneers and Delegates "To take personal action to create a better future. Each one has a unique story to tell and I greatly value each opportunity I have to speak with them to get to know them." Emphasising the importance of united action to address violence, and the value of embracing diversity to share and learn from one another, HRH Prince Feisal referred to HM King Abdullah's recent address to the United Nations General Assembly, saying, "My brother, His Majesty King Abdullah quoted the key objective in the United Nations Charter: 'To unite our strength', and reminded us that unity is not just an old dream, it is a modern urgency."
HRH Prince Feisal thanked Samsung Electronics Levant for their unwavering support as part of Samsung's "Hope For Children" programme. Speaking at the press conference, Mr Bumsuk Hong, President of Samsung Electronics Levant, "The sustainability of our business demands that we be respected global corporate citizens. We have been pursuing sustainable social development in the belief that businesses need a healthy society, free from conflict and violence, in order to prosper, just as trees require good soil to grow. We are extremely impressed with the growth and achievements of Generations For Peace over the last five years, and the demonstrated impact in promoting youth leadership, community empowerment, active tolerance, and responsible citizenship."
HRH Prince Feisal also thanked other Generations For Peace partners: Orange, as official Telecoms Partner, supporting live streaming of the Advanced Training Sessions; DHL Express for their support with shipments to Generations For Peace programmes; and Sama Water and Juices.
Generations For Peace (GFP) is an Amman-based global non-profit organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan and dedicated to sustainable peace building and the use of sport for conflict transformation.
By providing unique training and continuous mentoring support to volunteer leaders of youth, GFP empowers them to lead and cascade change in their communities, promoting active tolerance and responsible citizenship and working at the grass roots to address local issues of conflict and violence.
GFP programmes target adults and youth leaders who are influential in their communities; and children and adolescents who are the future of any community. Carefully-facilitated sport-based games and activities provide an entry point to engage children and adolescents, and a vehicle for integrated education and behavioural change.
Since 2007, GFP has trained and mentored more than 7,500 Delegates and Pioneers from more than 45 countries and territories in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. These peace building efforts have touched the lives of more than 110,000 children and youth.
