Huawei Technologies eyes Etisalat, STC contracts

China's Huawei Technologies has said it is in talks with UAE's Etisalat and Saudi Telecom Co (STC) to manage their fixed-line networks, potentially cementing its leadership of a $1bn regional industry, Reuters has reported. The company is in similar negotiations with several other Middle East operators, said Xia Chaojie, vice-president for delivery and service, Huawei Middle East, but declined to name them, citing confidentiality agreements. "Our teams have initiated talks with all our fixed network partners in the Middle East, including operators like Saudi Telecom and Etisalat," he said.
