IKEA says meatballs on UAE menu come from Saudi Arabia

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, March 03 - 2013 at 05:10

Ikea UAE has said it has taken the "extra-precautionary" measure of sending a batch of meat products for tests in Abu Dhabi to further confirm there is no horsemeat in beef meatballs the company serves at its stores in the country, Gulf News has reported. "The trust of our customers is of utmost importance to us, which is why last week we have taken extra-precautionary measures by sending a batch for DNA laboratory testing in Abu Dhabi," the company said. Meatballs served at Ikea's stores in the country are halal-certified and imported from Saudi Arabia, not Europe, it said.
