Increasingly visible health offer from France at Arab Health and Medlab

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, January 30 - 2013 at 16:18
  • PRESS RELEASE

It's a record for the French Pavilion at the Arab Health and Medlab tradeshow due to open next January 28th in Dubai. This year, it will bring together more than 100 participants led by Ubifrance - the French International Business Development Agency.

Yet this should come as no surprise if one considers the growing demand within the area and the high quality of this event whose profile continues rising year after year!

The medical devices and ICT for Health (Information and Communications Technology for Health) business is among France's most dynamic sectors with a turnover in excess of €8bn. Mostly involving SMEs specialising in high-tech niche products, it is driven by sustained domestic demand resulting from the health system's history of high quality and from an aging population.

This dynamism is maintained by the Government, who in 2008 took various steps like the Research Tax Credit, and who launched a €35bn state loan intended for investment, including €11bn specifically for research. It also set up a number of Competitiveness Clusters across the nation, 12 of which deal with medical technology.

On the strength of this favourable domestic background, businesses are also pursuing their growth in foreign markets. They rank fifth in world exports and are among the foremost suppliers to the Gulf Region. That area is indeed a booming market as a result of its numerous new public- and private-sector hospital projects, its high dependency on imports and its role as a distribution hub for India and East Africa.

Every heath sector will have a presence at Arab Health and Medlab: such fields of excellence for France as orthopaedics and diagnosis, as well as hospital supplies, air- and waste-processing equipment and much more.

For some years now, France has also been developing home care schemes and will present its experience in this field.

This substantial national representation will also include French Regions that concentrate the lion's share of France's offer and that host Competitiveness Clusters.

For instance, Centreco-Centrexport, with a delegation of 9 companies from the Centre-Pays de Loire Region, or Eurasanté, coming with 7 companies from the Nord Region.

Serf-Dedienne Santé is one of France's leading lights in orthopaedics, one of the country's areas of excellence. The company has chosen to enter the Middle East market with two of its flagship products. Backed up by thirty years of experience, Serf-Dedienne Santé who has earned an international reputation due to its patented designs that are recognised for their reliability and ease of use, is showing the TRI CCC total knee prosthesis.

In order to stand out, those companies are counting once again on the quality of their products, validated by a powerful health safety audit system, and on the innovative aspect of their solutions, stemming from a highly energetic R&D network.

The Ubifrance pavilions will be at the International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Dubai from January 28th to 31st. They will be located in Zabeel Hall at ARAB HEALTH, and in Sheikh Rashid Hall at Medlab.
