  • PRESS RELEASE

SAS, the provider of business analytics software and services, was ranked a leader in the recent report, 'The Forrester Wave: Big Data Predictive Analytics Solutions, Q1 2013.'

The importance of big data analytics was underscored by Forrester Research Inc., an independent technology and market research company that provides advice on existing and potential impact of technology to its clients and the public, when it noted in the report that predictive analytics can drive breakthrough business outcomes.

The report says that among the 10 vendors evaluated, SAS is 'an analytics powerhouse' and, along with another vendor, an 'unshakable leader' in the analysis of big data predictive analytics solutions. The ratings were based on three categories and SAS scored highest among all vendors in each--current offerings; strategy and market presence. Forrester evaluated 26 SAS products in its study, demonstrating the breadth of the SAS analytics portfolio. Other vendors only had from one to 12 products evaluated.

"Since 1976, SAS has provided enterprises with the industry's most powerful analytics, which continue to support the world's largest data sets, now called big data," said Jim Davis, SAS Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

"With innovative new products such as SAS High-Performance Analytics Server, SAS Visual Analytics and SAS DataFlux Event Stream Processing Engine we are leading the charge to meet new and fast-evolving customer needs. Regardless of data volume, analytics maturity or company size, SAS helps organizations uncover insight, and while every organization may not have big data, they all have big data analytics problems," he added.

"Being called the 'Powerhouse' in big data analytics demonstrates the strong reputation that SAS has built over the last 36 years. Analytics today plays a crucial role to any business, giving the ability to see what was trending previously and affording a better understanding of what will happen next. Forrester's report only reinforces SAS commitment in positioning analytics as an essential component for any business," concluded Shukri Dabaghi, General Manager, SAS Middle East.
