High infrastructure spending to drive Saudi steel demand: study

According to a new report by research firm RNCOS, growing demand on steel for infrastructure and construction projects has made Saudi Arabia one of the largest steel consumers in the GCC region, Saudi Gazette has reported. Huge spending on the construction of real estate and railways in the kingdom will help demand to grow at 19.5% during 2012-2015, the report said. Rebar is among the most attractive steel products in the Saudi steel industry and accounts for a bulk of steel consumption due to a large number of construction projects, the report noted.
