Iran takes delivery of first of 12 VLCCs from China

The National Iranian Tanker Co said it has taken delivery of its newly built VLCC from China's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard, Fars news has reported. The new vessel is the first one of 12 supertankers to Iran, giving Tehran extra capacity to transport its oil to Asia. The 12 new VLCCs, together capable of transporting 24 million barrels of crude, will significantly expand NITC's fleet of 39 ships, the company said.
