Iran's pharmaceutical imports from US dropped 50% in 2012

According to data released by the US Commerce Department, Iranian imports of US pharmaceuticals have been reduced by 50% in 2012, Reuters has reported. Imports of pharmaceuticals fell to $14.8m from $31.1m in 2011, while sales of vitamins, medicinal and botanical drugs decreased to $4.9m from $10.8m in 2011. US exports of surgical appliances and supplies to Iran also declined to $2.4m last year from $3.7m in the previous year. However, surgical and medical instrument imports rose to $7.6m from $6.5m and sales of dental equipment and supplies to $5m from $1.9m, the figures showed.
