Iraq received over 2.5m tourists in 2012

Iraq's antiquities and tourism ministry has said more than 2.5 million tourists visited the country in 2012, most of whom were on pilgrimage to the country's holy shrines, Azzaman has reported. The numbers are the largest ever since the country opened its doors to tourism for the first time since the 1970s, the ministry said.
