Iraq to step up searches of Iran-Syria flights
- Iraq: Monday, April 01 - 2013 at 08:03
The Iraqi government has announced more Iranian aircraft flying via its airspace to Syria will be searched, soon after the US urged Baghdad to take action in that regard, RIA Novosti has reported. "Because of a lot of information which referred to transportation of weapons, we have increased the activity of inspections," a spokesman for prime minister Nouri al-Maliki told Aljazeera TV. "We will carry out more random searches, to be assured that there is no weapons transfer," the spokesman said.
