Iraqi Airways, which last week received the approval to operate flights to Kuwait, is set to launch services to the UK in March for the first time since August 1990. Starting from March 5, the airline will operate three flights a week from Gatwick to Baghdad and to the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya in the north east of the country. The carrier will deploy its newly purchased Airbus A330 aircraft to operate two direct flights to Baghdad and one to Sulaimaniya every week. It plans to increase frequency to six flights a week by June 15.
