e.oman strategy wins Al Roya Special Economic Award for the best government project

Participating with the e.oman strategy, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) has won the Al Roya Special Economic Award for the best government project.
The e.oman strategy participating in this Award program comprises five main projects and initiatives, which represent contributions to the digital society development by ITA, which include: the Incubation project; Specialized IT Training; Government IT Training & Certification (GITTC) program; the National PC initiative; and, the Community IT Training (CITT) project. The CITT project delivers IT literacy training programs to the community through Community Knowledge Centers (CKC) and Women Community Knowledge Centers (WCKC) which have been established throughout the Sultanate.
ITA is pioneering the implementation of the e.oman initiative, which comprises a wide range of initiatives and services designed and created to improve the efficiency of government services, enhance the activities of businesses and empower individuals with skills and knowledge, to meet society's needs and expectations and to direct Oman towards becoming a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
Forty-two projects competed in this year's edition of the Al Roya Annual Economic Award, with government, private and small and medium enterprises projects participating.
The Award aims to highlight selected national economic models as examples of successful economic development of Oman. It is also an initiative which focuses on the quality of development projects and honours their owners, management and creative ideas.
It is important to highlight these projects and emphasize the role of the media in promoting and supporting economic projects and entrepreneurs to contribute to achieving diversity of income sources.
