ITU Telecom World 2012 explores challenges and opportunities arising from radical transformation of ICT sector

With a few days to go until ITU Telecom World 2012 kicks off five days of critical debate in Dubai from 14 to 18 October, leading names from across the global ICT ecosystem are set to share knowledge and build consensus on the current profound transformation of the ICT sector, and its implications for the industry, for other vertical sectors and for the world in which we live.
Khédija Ghariani, (Secretary-General, AICTO), Deborah Taylor Tate (ITU Special Envoy for Child Online Protection), Klaus Leisinger (Chairman, Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development), Rob Frieden (Pennsylvania State University), Oleg Chestnov (Assistant Director-General, WHO), and Ali Jazairy, Head of Innovation, WIPO along with regulators Abdullah A. Al-Darrab (CITC, Saudi Arabia), Air Chief Marshal Thares Punsri (NBTC, Thailand), Mohamed Nasser Al-Ghanim (TRA, UAE), and Alan Horne (Vanuatu) will also be at ITU Telecom World 2012. The dynamic agenda includes the exclusive Leadership Summit, wide-ranging panel sessions, workshops, Visionary Keynote speeches and Big Conversations, where major ICT players debate contrasting perspectives on key industry topics. Debates will focus on the future of the ICT sector, addressing in depth the challenges of new business models and new regulatory frameworks, privacy, confidentiality and cybersecurity; and the opportunities of delivering broadband, smart applications and human-centric networks.
The event showfloor will feature National Pavilions showcasing regional talent and investment opportunities from Algeria,Azerbaijan,Cameroon,China,Gabon,Ghana,Ivory Coast,Republic of Korea,Namibia,Nigeria,Russian Federation,Rwanda,Saudi Arabia,Senegal,Tanzania, UAE,Thailand,Zambia and Zimbabwe. Industry showcases will demonstrate the latest products, applications and services from event partners and sponsors such as TRA-UAE, Qtel, Etisalat,Intel,China Mobile and ZTE.
