- PRESS RELEASE
Jebel Ali Golf Resort is one of seven beaches in the UAE to be awarded the prestigious and globally recognised, Blue Flag accreditation. The Blue Flag Programme recognises and awards beaches and marinas on their sustainable development, measured by strict criteria including the quality of the water, environmental commitment & management and all-round safety policies.
The resort has been active in marina enrichment activities over the years including a fish releasing activity in the hotel's protected swim area as well as the redevelopment of marine life by placing Reef Balls to encourage the growth of safe habitats for fish and other sea creatures.
Fredrik Reinisch, General Manager of Jebel Ali Golf Resort said "We strongly believe in looking after the environment and annually commit to a number of different CSR activities and practices, with many aimed at developing marine life and protecting the waters. I amextremely proud of the whole team at the resort for the effort that has resulted in such a notable and prestigious accreditation".
Jebel Ali Golf Resort sits upon the shores of the Arabian Gulf, an extension of the Indian Ocean. The warm waters are a welcoming habitat for a rich variety of marine life, including Kingfish, Barracudas, sting rays, green turtles and dolphins. A number of endangered species, including the Hawksbill Turtle and Hammour, make the Arabian Gulf their home and it is therefore essential that a commitment to protecting the environment is a top priority.
David Thomson, Chief Operating Officer of JA Resorts & Hotels explained the group's commitment to CSR measures.
"The company ethos of JA Resorts & Hotels is to be the change we want to see in the world and regardless of how small our impact is, still aim to make a positive difference. This is a commitment made at all of our properties including Jebel Ali Golf Resort; where there is an unspoken promise to look after the beach and the marine life."
Moaz Sawaf, Project Manager, Conservation and Education for EWS-WWF said, "I am delighted that we have added more Blue Flag beaches and marinas in the UAE and are sure to see the number more than double next year. Blue Flags are awarded for one year only and beaches and marinas must therefore continue to comply with the criteria to keep the Blue Flag. When a beach or marina takes a Blue Flag onboard, they show their commitment to health, safety and environmental awareness and guarantee the beach user safety and quality water for swimming."
A Blue Flag indicates to visitors and guests that the beach and marina are highly ranked costal destinations. The award is internationally known with an ever increasing number of beaches and marinas being recognised worldwide.
