Jordan medical tourism grew 8.3% in 2011

According to data by Jordan's Private Hospitals Association (PHA), the kingdom's medical tourism sector has welcomed 240,000 visitors in 2011 either to receive treatment in private hospitals or to accompany a patient, Jordan Times has reported. This compares with 220,000 patients in 2010, the PHA said. Of the total, 58,000 Libyans came to Jordan for medical care in 2011, while Palestinian, Iraqi, Sudanese and Yemeni patients made up the bulk of the remainder.
