  • Jordan: Thursday, October 11 - 2012 at 01:57

The Jordanian health ministry has shut down 98 canteens in public and private schools across the kingdom and issued warnings to 19 others since the beginning of the school year for violating health regulations, Jordan Times has reported. Supervisors in some canteens did not possess health certificates showing they were free of diseases, while some workers lacked basic hygiene and others were selling impermissible food, the ministry said. The list of allowed food includes milk, natural juice and refrigerated yoghurt, sandwiches that do not contain meat or chicken, biscuits, natural potato chips, dates, fruits and vegetables.
