Jordanian insurers postpone floating of car insurance rates

A plan to float the prices of compulsory third-party liability (TPL) car insurance in Jordan has been postponed for two months by the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF) and the Insurance Commission, Jordan Times has reported. The prices were scheduled to be floated in March, but the two entities are still discussing technical details regarding the decision, said JIF president, Othman Budair. The move aims to encourage competition among the country's 28 insurance firms, said Budair, noting that these companies have suffered JD60m in TPL losses over the past two years.
