Abudayyeh added, "This is only the beginning of our journey and the inspirational vision of our Majesty King Abdullah the second will continue to encourage us to achieve more. We were driven by the aim of making a difference while positively impacting our communities and positioning Jordan among the pioneers when it comes to innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity."
IMAN1 Supercomputer has been designed, developed and engineered to become one of the fastest and most price efficient Supercomputers in the MENA region. This project has been completely implemented in Jordan utilizing Jordanian innovation and ingenuity.
IMAN1 was built using 2260 PlayStation3 devices, which were connected together on a very fast fiber based network. The team was able to turn a video gaming console into a Supercomputer powerhouse that is capable of performing up to 25 trillion mathematical operations per second. In addition to that, it has one of the world's best price-per-performance ratios in the High Performance Computing market.
Ever since IMAN1 went live, it has been used extensively by Jordanian universities to advance their Research and Development efforts in the areas of Science and Engineering.
